Liason for Students, Young Professionals, and Women in Microwaves

Students & YPs

Microwave and Radar Week warmly welcomes Students and Young Professional to submit papers, give presentations, and / or simply to attend and enjoy networking with the MRW community. Several options are already in place (and more under development) to facilitate your participation and making the most of it:

1. participate to Young Scientists Contest

The Young Scientist Contest is traditionally organised at MIKON and IRS conferences. Many of previous awardees are now well-established professionals and.. regular participants to MRW. Consider using this opportunity to expose your research to a more detailed review by experts in the field. And if you win, the award will be handed to you by a representative of one of the  prestigous award-funding institutions (to be announced later), in front of your colleagues and supervisors, during the Closing Ceremony.

2. Cheer your colleagues at the Awards Ceremony of the Best Master Thesis Competition

Best Master Thesis Competion is biannually organised by the AES/AP/MTT Joint Chapter, Poland Section IEEE. The competition is independent from MRW, but the Awards Ceremony takes place during the MRW Banquet. Come to cheer and congratulate your colleagues –  take this opportunity for networking and discussing how the quality and visibility of your own work may be enhanced!

3. Become an MTT-S Student Ambassador (and have your MRW registration fee fully covered by MTT-S)

This is a new opportunity at MRW2024. And you do not need to be an IEEE MTT-S member, and not even a ”strictly” microwave engineer, to take advantage of it.  What suffices is your interest in a microwave component of your (current or future) work, and your willingness to help as a part-time host of an MTT-S meeting point druing the MRW.

More specifically, MRW2024 seeks 3 (three) students, at any stage of their studies, who will:

  • attend MRW2024 on 1-4 July 2024,
  • take turns and ensure that at least one of them remains in the IEEE MTT-S Booth in the MRW exhibition area, at any time during the exhibition hours.

In return:

  • the IEEE MTT-S Marketing & Communication (MarCom) Committee will fully cover the MRW registration fee for each of the three volunteers,
  • the AES/AP/MTT Joint Chapter will provide additional funds towards the volunteers’ necessary expenses (travelling to and accommodation during MRW2024).

Interested candidates are invited to contact Dr. Malgorzata Celuch (IEEE MTT-S MarCom Vice-Chair) mceluch@qwed.eu.

4. Enhance your Technical Writing and Talking skills

Tutorial Session on Technical Writing and Talking is organised in the framework of MRW2024. Tutorials will be given by two experienced instructors:

  • Dr. George Ponchak (former Editor-in-Chief of IEEE T-MTT and MWCL)  will explain ”How to Write a Paper for IEEE Journals and Navigate the Review Process”.
  • Dr. Erin Kiley (many-times co-organiser of Three Minute Thesis Competition at IEEE MTT-S IMS) will give ”A Talk about the Talking”.

The tutorials will be followed by questions, answers, and free discussion.

Please refer to the Tutorial Session description for more details and use this opportunity to improve your career perspectives!
